5 Must See Places in the Philippines

The Philippines is made up of over 7,000 islands offering stunning tropical scenery, warm turquoise waters, and a vibrant culture. From world famous beaches, to intricate rice terraces, to underground river caves – I’m sharing the 5 must see places you absolutely can’t miss in the Philippines!

Luis at Roamleisure.com says hello!

1. White Sand Beaches of Boracay

Consistently voted one of the best beaches in the world, Boracay’s 4 kilometer White Beach lives up to its reputation. The powdery white sand and shallow azure waters are breathtaking. Spend your days sunbathing, island hopping to nearby coves, or snorkeling with colorful fish. As the sun sets, enjoy beachfront happy hour specials or join the lively nightlife scene.

2. Banaue Rice Terraces – Carved by Hand Over 2,000 Years Ago

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, these magnificent terraces were carved into the mountains of Ifugao over 2,000 years ago! It’s unbelievable to grasp the sheer magnitude of these dramatic green stepped slopes made completely by hand. Over 15,000 kilometers of intricate stone walls and rice paddies wind through lush rugged mountains. Gaze in awe at this gorgeous hand crafted landscape.

3. The Chocolate Hills of Bohol – Over 1,200 Mysterious Grass Covered Mounds

Spread across Bohol’s unique landscape, over 1,200 perfectly symmetrical mounds mysteriously dot the countryside with lush grass covered hills. These cone shaped formations range from 30 to 50 meters high with the rolling grass making them resemble giant “Hershey’s Kisses.” Imagine exploring this surreal landscape by foot, bike, or tour bus!

4. Puerto Princesa Underground River Cave – UNESCO World Heritage Site

At over 5 miles long, this protected nature park features one of the world’s longest navigable underground rivers. Your journey begins with an epic boat ride into utter darkness inside a mountain cave illuminated with dramatic stalactites and stalagmites. Bats hang from cave ceilings amid pure silence. You’ll even spot monkeys and wild long tailed macaques throughout the park!

5. Walled City Intramuros Showcases Philippines’ Historic Spanish Past

Constructed in 1571, the walled city of Intramuros gives you a glimpse into Manila’s historic Spanish roots. Walk along cobblestone streets soaking in original remnants of Spanish colonial architecture at historic sites like Fort Santiago and the eye catching San Agustin Church Museum. Casa Manila is also a unique Spanish home turned into a historic house museum within the district.
